The latest circulating reports on HTC suggest that the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer already works on their next large-screened device after launching the HTC One Max phablet. The new handset has been given the codename HTC M8 with a rumoured launch date set in 2014 and leaked images spotted at the Chinese Web site VR Zone.

The leaked images show the HTC M8 in a blue colour option and a metal body design comparable to existing HTC One smartphone. Additionally, the images show the rear side of the HTC device with the Beats audio logo.

Noteworthy mobile source @evleaks announced via social networking site Twitter that the upcoming HTC Android phone will be heading towards the four major U.S. carriers in Q1 2014. The Twitter post on Saturday, November 9, reads: "HTC M8 unsurprisingly destined for AT&T, among others."

According to the Android and Me report, HTC's original launch date plan on the HTC M8 at AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint in the United States market is on March 22. However, the report further claims that the company's plan "fell through when the camera component shortages forced HTC to push back the US launch date."

Even though Chinese Web site VR Zone did not reveal any more details on the HTC M8, another Chinese site identified as ePrice gave the device enthusiasts some anticipated features and specs of the new phablet. The HTC M8 is expected to sport either a 5- or 5.2-inch screen display making the device bigger than the 4.7 inch screen of the HTC One but a little smaller compared to the 5.9-inch screen of the HTC One Max.

Other features and specs include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC, 3GB of RAM as well as the company's Sense 6.0 UI. Additionally, the Chinese Web site suggests there is a possibility for the new HTC handset to be officially unveiled at the 2014 Mobile World Congress.

HTC has not given any statement yet to confirm or deny the reports regarding the upcoming phablet. There are no details available as well when it comes to the pricing scheme of the HTC M8.
