There has been a lot of talks about the iOS 7 and the features that go with it, but apart from all-new look and more than 200 changes from the old OS, Apple's new iOS 7 is also a big contender for tapping into the gaming industry within the mobile devices class.

Previously, Apple as a brand is not one that you associate with gaming. According to GigaOM, the Mac isn't exactly the gamer's choice of computer when playing more staple PC games like League of Legends, and the Apple TV isn't brilliant when it comes to the game.

Perhaps Apple's biggest previous step in gaming is its aggressiveness in terms of having the best game titles as timed exclusives for the iOS. But with the advent of the iOS 7, it also aims to pull casual and serious gamers over to their side with the faster processor.

As though proof that gaming is the next big aim that Apple is hoping for, it has already been announced that the iOS 7 update will bring with it support for game controllers once it rolls out for free starting September 18.

This will all boil down to the ability of the 64-bit processor that is now inside the iPhone 5S. "It's really amazing how smooth the operating system feels because it is running on this chip," said Geremy Mustard, co-founder of chair, in an interview quoted by Venture Beat.

"Apple showed a chart that says the new A7 chip is two times the raw horsepower of the A6 that was in the iPhone 5. We're actually seeing even greater gains because the 64-bit processor is running instructions even more efficiently."

Developers get into the groove of iOS 7

It's highly likely that the controller will roll out later this year, as developers are just starting to see what they can do for their respective games with the new iOS 7. According to CNet, there are already iPhone controller announcements that are brewing at PowerA, the company that makes console-style Android controllers.

It may not be long until the smaller Android-based consoles such as Madcatz's MOJO or even the likes of Ouya will find another closer rival in the form of the iOS Game Controller Support.

From a standard user perspective, the insides of the iPhone 5S is not something of much use. But putting the equation of a more serious gaming platform than what you would normally use on an average compute, you have yourself a justified killer device for gaming. The potential end goal here would be to establish Apple and its mobile device as an alternative to console gaming, and one that you can also bring with you whenever you want.

Infinity Blade 3 as the first step into iOS serious gaming?

Infinity Blade 3 is pretty much the first game that aims to display the prowess and power of the iPhone 5S in the gaming section. In the Cupertino event, ChAIR Entertainment's game took the stage alongside the iPhone 5S to show off just how much the inside of the new device has been changed to accommodate a more immersive and better performing gaming angle.

"It's really the culmination of what these kind of entertainment experiences can be on a device that I carry with me all the time," said Chair creative director Donald Mustard to The Salt Lake Tribune.

The game will be released at $6.99 on iTunes Store, and is compatible with iOS 7-based devices.

And this is just the beginning, as another game has been spotted, this time by Touch Arcade. MacRumors reports that AVP: Evolution has just been approved to iOS 7, its 64-bit processing environment and the related game controllers.

The game has now been optimised for the iOS 7 and will carry with it the Game Controller Support.

Other developers like Gameloft are already working at some of their games for them to be optimized and approved by Apple. According to CNet, the likes of Dungeon Hunter 4 have already been updated, while a few dozen more games are already lined up for approval.

Officially, the iOS 7 will be available for iDevices from iPhone 4 and all other models made after that, the iPad 2 and any iPads after that, the iPad Mini, and the iPod Touch 5. Though in terms of games that will also require the 64-bit processor, the iPhone 5S will carry the faster processor.
