iOS 8.2 Firmware Update Officially Announced, Start Downloading Now
During the ‘Spring Forward’ event for unleashing the 12-inch MacBook Air 2015 and the Apple Watch, that was held on March 9, the arrival of iOS 8.2 firmware update was also proclaimed. The new firmware update brings support for Apple Watch through an exclusive app.
Compatible Devices
The iOS 8.2 update can be installed on your iDevice through OTA and iTunes. In order to access, users need to go to Settings > General > Software Update. If the update is available, it will show the entire list of improvement, bug fixes and features that comes with the update. Phone Arena has published the screenshot of iOS 8.2 software update.
The new update is available for handsets like iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus. Except for the first generation iPad and iPad Mini, all the iPad models can receive the iOS 8.2 update. It also supports the fifth generation model of iPod Touch.
Apple Watch Support
iOS 8.2 brings new Apple Watch app for pairing the iPhone with the new smartwatch from Apple in order to sync and personalise settings of the watch. The Activity app will allow users to view fitness information from the wearable device.
Improved Health App
Units for measuring temperature of the body, blood glucose level, height, weight and distance has been introduced in the Health App from Apple. The new update allows the user to add excercise and fitness sessions from third-party apps to the Health App. A new privacy setting has been included that prevents the app from tracking distance and steps.
System Stability And Bug Fixes
The stability of apps and features like Mail, Music, VoiceOver, have been improved. Support for Made for iPhone Hearing Aids has become better.
The problem that prevented users from accessing some of the favorite locations on the Maps app has been fixed. It also brings fix for the quick reply messaging, wherein the last word of the text could not be autocorrected. Syncing issue between iTunes and Music app has been resolved. Audio issues while attending a call using Bluetooth, has also been addressed.
Major Fixes Are Still Missing
Forbes report that the fix for an issue with Wi-Fi that persistently causes connectivity problems, draining the battery has not been listed in iOS 8.2 release features. It also states that Apple is currently working on iOS 8.3 that will include support for Beats streaming music service in iTunes.
