iPhone 7 Might Have A 12-Megapixel Camera
The Apple iPhone 7 will reportedly sport a 12-megapixel camera, as pointed out by Value Walk. Kevin Wang, the research director of HIS Technology, is confident that once the Cupertino-based company launches its next flagship smartphone, it will be featuring an apparent significant focus on upgrading its camera.
If this concept design actually comes to fruition, the iPhone 7 will have a 50 percent increase, with regards to its megapixel quotient, from the previous iPhone generation that has graced today’s smartphone market. This rumor is very much in line with the latest string of rumors that Apple has plans to significantly improve the company’s photographic capabilities.
A 12-megapixel camera is nothing impossible for Apple and, actually, should be feasible to be launched by later this year, most likely in October.
Wang’s predictions are actually quite similar with those of Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo had also claimed earlier this month that the iPhone 7 will be released with a 12-megapixel snapper.
However, it remains unclear on whether or not Apple will actually release what is rumored to be the iPhone 7 as a unit that will be referred to as the iPhone 7. According to the rumor mill, this particular unit with a 12-megapixel camera might be named the iPhone 6S or the iPhone 6C – which are only upgrades from the current Apple flagship smartphone, the iPhone 6. That said, this much awaited unit with the improved snapper is expected to launch later this year, while the next generation iPhone 7 will come out in the next year.
The 12-megapixel camera might make the rumored iPhone 7 at par with some competitors, but it will still leave the device lagging behind others. For instance, the Sony Xperia Z4 will reportedly have a 20.7-megapixel camera, while every device in the Galaxy series of Samsung also has superior cameras in terms of megapixels, according to a separate Value Walk report.
