‘League of Legends’ in 2016: New matchmaking system and improved social experience coming soon
Developer of hit MOBA “League of Legends” Riot Games is gearing itself up for big changes this coming 2016. The developer recently announced that it will release several massive updates next year and will introduce several new features to “League of Legends.”
On the game's website, Riot Games said that the updates include new items and customisation options for players. The company will also update the game’s mastery system. Although the developer is yet to detail the gameplay changes that will be made, it noted that players will be given a set of pathways to develop their champions. This means that players will have their characters progress in a way that suits their playstyles. Aside from that, high-level players who want to battle others will be given a reduced waiting time during matchmaking.
The game’s champion selection system will be tweaked too. Sometime next year, gamers will be able to select two positions and play however they want. Champions will also be selected one at a time, while bans and picks will require all players to lock in their choice. If they don’t, they could be sent back to the waiting queue.
Group gaming will also be encouraged pretty soon. The update will apparently give a bonus to groups of players that fight matches together. The group queue will serve as a replacement to the solo and duo queues.
There are other features coming to the game next year, and it will further improve many aspects of “League of Legends.” Among these is an enhancement to the game’s social features, Polygon reports.
Riot Games is also planning to introduce a new interface which allows players to have access to their friends list without having to open up “League of Legends.” The developer will also allow players to jump into matches, which is meant to accompany an upcoming mobile app for “League of Legends.”
