As the Avengers are set to face the wrath of their nemesis Ultron on the big screen, game developer Netmarble has decided to announce the worldwide release for a Marvel mobile game called “Marvel Future Fight.” The game is an action RPG that gives players the opportunity to play as their favourite Marvel character, with characters like Spider-Man, Thor, Captain America and more, from a 36-character roster filled with plenty of possible choices.

When the game was soft-launched, it was apparently one of the more active forum threads Touch Arcade has had in a while. Many fans have reportedly won the 36 characters available, with the developers apparently promising even more Marvel heroes down the road.

While the game sounds similar to “Mighty Marvel Heroes,” which was developed by DeNa Games, “Marvel Future Fight” differs from it in a couple of ways. For one thing, the game incorporates a more realistic graphics engine compared with the cute designs in “Mighty Marvel Heroes.” The game also has the player controlling one character in a team of three, with players choosing which three characters go on a mission and having the capability to switch between the said three on the fly.

The game actually looks quite similar to the “Marvel Ultimate Alliance” games that were developed by Activision for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, though “Marvel Future Fight” won’t have all four members of a group being active. That being said, the action RPG elements do bear a resemblance to the “Ultimate Alliance” games.

“Marvel Future Fight” will have a proper campaign mode that will have players facing off against various Marvel villains like Loki, Doctor Octopus and Ultron, amongst others, with a plot written by Marvel comics veteran Peter David. Players will also be able to take on their friends through online player vs. player, or PVP modes, in case one wants to take on more than the AI.

Fans can expect “Marvel Future Fight” to get a worldwide release on April 30 as reported by Pocket Gamer, coincidentally sometime before “Avengers: Age of Ultron” comes to Western audiences. The game will be available for both iOS and Android devices.
