Massive ‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops III’ Leaks Divulge Release Date, Beta, CoOp Campaign, Zombies And Gameplay
Activision are known for the careful rollout of marketing campaigns for their flagship brands, so it’s likely with some chagrin that the U.S.-based publisher has learned that nearly all the major details surrounding “Call of Duty: Black Ops III” have leaked. The big news is that “Black Ops III” is set for release on Nov. 6, and that everyone who preorders, at least from Gamestop, will gain access to a pre-release beta. That’s not all though, as details regarding multiplayer, campaign and Zombie modes have leaked.
News of the “Black Ops III” release date comes from a thread on NeoGAF, where a poster named Reckless Onion managed to get a hold of a Gamestop promotional display. The display clearly states the “Call of Duty: Black Ops III” release date, and goes on to state that the preorder-based beta will be held on Xbox One, PC and PS4. It’s worth noting that the display features a disclaimer noting that actual platform availability and launch dates are yet to be determined. The planned beta would, however, be the first the franchise has held since “Call of Duty: World at War,” which was also developed by Treyarch and released in 2008.
A separate leak, posted on Reddit blows the doors of gameplay, revealing detailed information about the kinds of gameplay options fans can expect. First up is Treyarch’s signature Zombie mode, which promises the most ambitious “Call of Duty” Zombie experience to date, with a distinct storyline and XP-based progression, including a great deal of depth and replayability.
On the campaign front, “Black Ops III” brings cooperative campaign gameplay for up to four players, with full progression and customizable characters, including weapons, loadouts, abilities outfits and personalised armories to show off accomplishments. The game will also offer cinematic arena-style play, which Treyarch has designed for maximum replayability.
Multiplayer remains a huge focus for the franchise, and the dev team is implementing an all new momentum-based, chained-movement system. Treyarch promises more fluid movement, as well as controlled thrust jumps, slides and mantling, bringing a level of precision control that builds upon what was seen in “Advanced Warfare.” “Black Ops III” multiplayer also introduces Specialist Characters which allows players the ability to rank up and master individual capabilities and weapons. Of course, as none of this information comes from official source, it should be taken with a grain of salr.
All this follows the release of a three-minute “Ember” teaser, released on the official “Call of Duty” YouTube channel. The “Ember” teaser cryptically warns of a future where mankind is unable to control the technology it creates, hinting at a future which sees greater integration between technology and the human body. “Call of Duty: Black Ops III” is the first game in the series to be developed by Treyarch, since the studio released “Black Ops II” in 2012, and represents a continuation of Activision’s recently announced effort to move the franchise to a three-year development cycle.
