Microsoft Lumia 940 To Arrive With 5.2-inch Display, Windows 10, Octa-core CPU, 25 MP Cam, Iris Scanner And More
Microsoft Lumia 940 is the alleged 2015 flagship from the company that is expected to release later this year. The Redmond giant and various other brands have launched plenty of Window Phone 8.1 OS powered budget phones. Now, Microsoft is rumoured to be working on the Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL flagships for this year.
On April 17, the International Business Times citing Nokia Power User (NPU) had reported about the Lumia 940 and 940 XL as two of future Lumia devices that are going to release this year. At that time, NPU had reported that the Lumia 940 will be housing a 5-inch display and the Lumia 940 XL will possess a 5.7-inch display. However, now the very same source claims that the Lumia 940 will be a slightly bigger device that will come with 5.2-inch screen.
The screen resolution of the 5.2-inch display is not known yet. The device is expected to come to replace the Lumia 930 from 2014, claims the GSM Arena. The Lumia 940 and the Lumia 940 XL are going to come pre-installed with Windows 10 Mobile OS. It further adds that the Redmond giant will pack an octa-core processor in both the devices.
When it comes to the camera, the Lumia 940 will be sporting a 24 or 25 MP camera. The front-facing camera of the device is expected to be of 5 or 8 MP. The device is expected to unmatched additional features such as stylus pen, iris sensor and 3D interaction support. As of this writing, there is no confirmation on the Lumia 940 and the Lumia 940 XL devices by Microsoft. However, rumours are rife that both the smarpthones are likely to get announced by June this year. It would be the same time when the Windows 10 will be launched, adds Phone Arena. Currently, Windows 10 for phone is only available as technical preview builds.
GSM Arena is of the view that Lumia 940 and the Lumia 940 XL handsets are possibly going to get announced officially on April 29 at the upcoming Microsoft Developer Build Conference. Other Lumia devices that are expected to get revealed are midranges like the Lumia 840 and the Lumia 740 XL.
