Minecraft Xbox 360 TU 12 Mash-up Pack Update; Mojang Updates on World Generator for More Biomes
Even with the release of the Minecraft Xbox 360 TU 12, fans have not yet been able to access the mash-up pack or find out what is really in store for them.
Now, 4J Studios has provided some clue as to what can be expected of these packs, which have been promised to roll out with the update.
"For those asking-a Mash-up Pack makes Minecraft look like another game, so Textures + Skin Pack + User Interface + Music + Themed World," said the developers on their official Twitter account.
Expanding further on the subject, 4J Studios seems to have added the function of better and more options for exploration once the Mash-up Packs hit,
"You can create your own worlds with the Mash-up pack, or load the Themed World and explore/edit it."
4J Studios has promised fans that they will be releasing more details in the form of screenshots of the Mash-up Pack, after legal signoffs have been done, so stayed tuned for additional details of the pack.
Mojang gives an update on Minecraft World Generator
The gang at Mojang has been working on an update for the world generator to create changes ever since they had rolled out the jungle biome in March 2012.
This time, Minecraft developer Jens Bergensten has written an update stating what they plan on doing for the next World Generator update.
"One reason why we rarely do changes to the world generator is because every little change off-sets the world seed and causes noticeable borders between new and old terrain," he said in the Mojang official blog.
"So, in order to avoid needing to change the world generator again in the nearest future, we try to do as many changes as possible."
Some of the issues that the developers wanted to address include very large oceans, uneven or random biome placement, and not enough variation of these biomes.
There have been five major fixes to these problem areas, as including fixes to add more islands and checks to lessen cut down on the ocean surface, biomes are now under four categories (snow-covered, cold, medium, and dry/warm) and are not allowed to be placed beside a biome that is very different from its characteristic, and new terrain features have been added (like the sunflower that was teased earlier).
What is probably the best news for Minecraft players is that Mojang has added more biomes, as well as provided rare or uncommon variations from the existing ones that you already know.
All of these updates seem to be slated for the Minecraft 1.7 update, though not much detail has been released as of yet. Mojang did provide a comparison map of how the present 1.6 looks like and how the map will be like one the fixes have been added.
The first image is one from the current Minecraft 1.6, showcasing the huge oceans that have been pointed out as a problem.
The second image showcases the future map once the Minecraft 1.7 update hits.
