It appears the team at NetherRealm are determined to get ahead of the constant stream of leaks and unofficial reveals that have plagued “Mortal Kombat X.” Fresh off the back of a trailer showing Liu Kang and Kung Lao in action, the studio has released a spate of new content, including a new trailer for Erron Black, a video showing how foley artists create the sounds of fatalities and much more.

The official “MKX” trailer for hotshot gunslinger Erron Black is hosted on the “Mortal Kombat” Community YouTube page. The brief, one-minute video sees Black in action against Kung Lao’s descendant and fellow “MKX” debutant, Kung Jin. After a brief tussle which sees Erron Black show off his impressive array point-shooting skills, the gunslinger dispatches Kung Jin with a brutal finisher that’s not for the squeamish.

If you ever wondered where the gruesome sound effects behind fatalities come from, Gamespot tagged the time-stamp in the latest “Mortal Kombat X” dev stream where the developers explain the foley process. Green goop, a plunger, vegetables, fruits, nuts, hammers and more are the tools of the trade when it comes to emulating the sounds of bone crunching, flesh rending and organs imploding.

On the subject of sound, NetherRealm also released a brand new live-action official TV spot for “MKX,” scored by System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian. The video shows the residents of a city alerting each other to the presence of a fight, before rushing off to watch Scorpion and Sub-Zero engaged in combat. The video has proven quite popular online and even spawned a well received fan-made edit, by YouTube user shagg187. The edit replaces System of a Down’s Chop Suey with the iconic theme music from the 1995 “Mortal Kombat” movie.

Continuing the barrage of official information, the studio also provided details on fighting variations for Liu Kang, Shinnok and the newly revealed Erron Black. Black’s variations include Marksman, Gunslinger and Outlaw, while Liu Kang is capable of Flame Fist, Dragon’s Fire and Dualist. Shinnok meanwhile, can call upon Impostor, Bone Shaper and the aptly named Necromancer. Gamers will be able to try these variations out for themselves when “Mortal Kombat X” launches on PC, PS4 and Xbox Obe on April 14. The last-gen versions of the game have been delayed to an unspecified date in the summer.
