Motorola Moto X+1 Release Date Pegged for Sept. 25

According to earlier reports, Motorola's Moto X successor Moto X+1 is scheduled for August release along with the much-awaited Moto 360 smartwatch. However, a new report suggests that the Moto X+1 release date is postponed to Sept. 25 instead.

Specifically, the Moto X+1 will be available under Verizon contract on Sept. 25 release. At this point, it is still unclear if Moto 360 will be released on the aforementioned date under carrier Verizon. Also, the other possibility of the delay in release could be attributed to Verizon getting the handset later when compared to other major carriers in the U.S., says Phone Arena.

The approaching month September seems like the busiest month ever, with umpteen devices lined up for release. This includes the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, the HTC One W8 (Windows Phone variant of the HTC One M8), and the Apple iPhone 6 (although the handset will only be a launched in September but the release is postponed to October) to name a few.

When it comes to specifications, the upcoming Moto X+1 will feature a 5.1-inch display packed with 1,080 x 1,920 pixels screen resolution and 441 ppi pixel density. The Moto X+1 will come with a removable back panel with umpteen colour/pattern choices via Motorola MotoMaker, similar to the current Moto X.

Under the hood, the Moto X+1 will reportedly be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and will house a good 2 GB of RAM. Also, the handset is expected to run on Android v4.4.4 KitKat OS out-of-the-box. As far as the memory goes, the Moto X+1 will reportedly come with 32 GB of in-built storage with no microSD card support. However, there are many rumours suggesting 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB of storage and microSD card support for expansion up to 128 GB. It remains to be seen though if the expandable storage rumour will indeed be realized.

Moreover, the upcoming smartphone will house a solid 12 MP rear-facing camera with LED flash and a 5 MP front-facing camera unit. The device will be backed by a non-removable Li-Ion 2900 mAh battery unit. According to earlier reports, the price of the Moto X+1 is set for US$400.
