The long-awaited Nexus X, also referred widely as Nexus 6 and Motorola Shamu, is set for an October release. However, Google has not officially announced the exact release date yet. On the other hand, the much-required details pertaining to the Nexus X's performance in Geekbench benchmark testing is out.

Nexus X, the next-generation affordable flagship smartphone from Google, will reportedly boast a humongous 5.9-inch screen and a killer Quad HD resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels. The device will run on Android L and will be powered by a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 805) processor, clocked at 2.65 GHz. In terms of RAM, the Nexus X will be backed with 3GB, similar to many other flagship devices released this year.

Another flagship device with a very large display is LG's G3 smartphone with 5.5-inch screen, same QHD resolution, Android v4.4.2 KitKat and Snapdragon 801 powering the handset. With the aforementioned specifications, the G3 has scored almost the same as the Nexus X. As it turns out, the killer QHD display takes a toll on the overall performance of any smartphone, concludes Phone Arena.

Apparently, Nexus X has scored very impressively and the device sits comfortably ahead of other flagships in Geekbench's benchmark test. However, readers should note that the latest Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has also scored equally well when compared with Google's next-generation device in the early evaluations. Nevertheless, the Note 4 is not part of the current evaluation, but the Note 3 is included. For the benchmark test, the Nexus X was evaluated against the LG G3, Apple iPhone 6, iPhone 5S, HTC One M8, Samsung Galaxy S5 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

Going by Geekbench 3.2 "single-core" test results, the Nexus X scored a good 1040 against all the other Android devices. However, the Nexus device scored lower than both iPhone 5S and iPhone 6 models, which had a score of 1323 and 1630, respectively.

In the Geekbench 3.2 "multi-core" test results, the Nexus 6/X scored a whopping 3199, which is better than all of its competitors' scores including Apple's iPhones. Interestingly, the only other device that was able to score close to the Nexus X is last year's Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with 2998.
