NFL News: Jamaal Charles Frustrated By Injuries Last Season
In his seventh season in the National Football League, or NFL, running back Jamaal Charles admitted that was frustrated by his injuries in the 2014 season that saw his numbers drop for the Kansas City Chiefs. Talking to Adam Teicher, the ESPN reporter for the Kansas City Chiefs, Charles stated that he struggled with dealing with the injuries, which included being hurt on his ankle, foot, back, shoulder, knee and hamstring last season.
“I feel good. My body has healed up, rested up,” Charles said in the report. “I was frustrated more last season as I’ve ever been because of all of those injuries. I was frustrated because I didn’t feel my body was right the whole season. But I battled through that time. That’s all I could do. I felt like I was in a fight and I had to respond. I had 12 weeks to finish the season, and it felt to me like I had 12 rounds to go.’’
Despite the injuries, Charles still recorded 1,033 rushing yards on 206 carries and had nine touchdowns for the year. However, he recorded just 291 receiving yards on 40 catches among the career-lows for both categories. The star running back helped Kansas City to a 9-7 win-loss record to finish in eighth place in the American Football Conference, or AFC standings and just a game behind a playoff spot.
Charles also stated in the interview that all the injuries was “just bad luck” and that he was “just dinged up” and that he doesn’t believe that his body is not breaking down. The 28 year old running back will be entering his eighth season in the league after being drafted in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft. In the same article, Teicher added that Charles has spent his offseason working out in Texas along with other NFL players and that Charles has a training plan to avoid the injuries he suffered last season.
