Nokia XL was released in May 2014, while the Nokia Lumia 530 has recently been announced in July. And, the expected release date of the Lumia 530 is pegged for August. Moreover, both the phones are budget-friendly and come packed with impressive specifications. Readers who are interested in the latest Nokia Lumia 530 or the Nokia XL should check out this specifications, features and price comparison.

Display, Exterior and Size

The Nokia Lumia 530 features a 4.0-inch TFT display, whereas the Nokia XL comes with a bigger 5-inch IPS LCD display. Also, the Nokia XL comes bundled with 480 x 800 pixels screen resolution, whereas the upcoming Nokia Lumia 530 comes with 480 x 854 pixels resolution. The pixel density of Nokia XL and Nokia Lumia 530 stand at 187 ppi and 245 ppi respectively.

When it comes to exterior, the sharp angular plastic edges of the predecessor Lumia 520 are altered to provide rounded corners in the Lumia 530. Apart from this minor change, there is not much difference in the upcoming phone's look, according to Tech Radar. The Nokia XL, on the other hand, resembles the original Nokia X with the same plastic exterior. However, the handset is quite hefty. With a weight of 190 g, the Nokia XL is heavier than many other inexpensive phones available in the market. The silver lining is that the construction quality is top-notch. Furthermore, the finish of the handset can be compared to high-end phones and there are no rough edges, providing the look of a pricey phone.

The thickness and the weight of Nokia Lumia 530 are 0.46-inch and 129 g respectively, whereas the Nokia XL is 0.43-inch thick and weighs 190 g.

Hardware, Software and Memory

The Nokia XL is powered by a dual-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Play) Cortex-A5 processor, clocked at 1.0 GHz. The Nokia Lumia 530, on the other hand, is powered by a relatively superior quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 200) processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz. Even with a better processor, the Nokia Lumia 530 houses only a meagre 512 MB of RAM, whereas the Nokia XL comes with a relatively better 768 MB of RAM.

The Nokia XL runs on Nokia X 1.0 UI on top of Google's Android OS, while the Nokia Lumia 530 runs on Windows Phone 8.1 out of the box. In addition, both the handsets offer only 4 GB of internal storage and support microSD card for expansion. However, the expansion limit of the Nokia XL and the Lumia 530 stand at 32 GB and 128 GB respectively.

Camera and Battery

Both the handsets sport the same 5 MP rear-facing camera units. However, the Nokia XL comes with LED flash, whereas the Lumia 530 doesn't. Furthermore, there is no secondary camera unit in the Lumia 530, while the Nokia XL sports a 2 MP front-facing shooter. In addition, the Lumia 530 is backed by a Li-Ion 1430 mAh battery unit, while the Nokia XL houses a superior Li-Ion 2000 mAh battery unit.

Connectivity, SIM and Colour

Both the phones come equipped with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11, Wi-Fi hotspot and microUSB support. It is worth noting that, the Nokia XL supports Bluetooth v3.0 and not the typical Bluetooth v4.0. Besides, both the phones come equipped with micro-sim support. Furthermore, the new Nokia Lumia 530 may offer optional dual-sim support similar to the Nokia XL.

The Lumia 530 comes in red/orange, green, white, and grey/black, whereas the Nokia XL comes in bright and fresh colours like red/orange, green, cyan, yellow, white, and black. However, not all colours are widely available.

Price and Release Date

The Nokia XL (Dual-Sim) can be purchased at AU$209.95. The Nokia Lumia 530, on the other hand, will be priced at €85 (roughly translates to $113, AU$122 and £67). Notably, the quoted price of the Lumia 530 is before taxes and subsidies, says Tech Radar. As mentioned earlier, the Lumia 530 is expected to be released sometime in August.
