Nokia Lumia 625: Lumia Black Update Now Rolling Out to Lower-End Windows Phone Handset
The Lumia Black update has already been rolled out to the Nokia Lumia 1020, 925, 920 and 820 Windows Phone handsets. okia Lumia 1320 and 1520 have the update pre-installed. Now, the Nokia Lumia 625 joins the list, as the latest Microsoft and Nokia update rolls out to the lower-end smartphone.
The Win Beta report notes that the update process is slow and that Nokia Lumia 625 owners must patiently wait for the Lumia Black update to reach their devices. To manually check if the update is available, owners are suggested to navigate to "Settings" and then "Phone Update."
Aside from the SIM-free variants, a number of carrier-locked models were also able to get the latest Lumia Black update. Singtel's Nokia Lumia 625 received the update together with carriers in Australia and Europe.
The report further claims the Lumia Black update is already listed as available in the Nokia support page for the majority of regions, while the others have it listed as "waiting for approval." To verify the countries and devices having the Lumia Black update, device enthusiasts are recommended to check out the Finnish smartphone manufacturer's support page.
The Lumia Black update with the Windows Phone 8 GDR3 on top of it will be offering a number of new features and enhancements on the Nokia device. According to the GSMArena report, the latest update will allow users to close the apps from the app switching UI, auto rotation on/off switch, Driving Mode, Bluetooth 4.0 LE support, custom ringtones for emails or messages and better storage management. The update for the other Nokia smartphones like the Nokia Lumia 720, 620 and 520 is expected to arrive shortly.
The Nokia Lumia 625 features and specs include a 4.7-inch 800 x 480 Gorilla Glass 2 IPS LCD capacitive touch screen, a dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus processor with 512 MB of RAM, Windows Phone 8 OS, Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy, a 5 MP rear-facing camera and a VGA front-facing camera, non-removable Li-ion 2,000 mAh battery, 8 GB internal storage capacity that can be expanded up to 64 GB through the available microSD card slot and free 7 GB SkyDrive cloud storage.
