Nokia to Return in 2016 With New Android Phones

Nokia has not given up hope on its mobile phones as it will reportedly release new Android units in 2016. According to a confirmation from the company's President of Nokia China, they have been working on new Android powered phones to be produced in factories in Sichuan, China. The production should come in full scale after further assessment. Can Nokia get back on track?

Nokia's president in China, Mike Wang has reportedly confirmed the release of the Android phones in 2016 saying the company will most likely for its Chinese plants. However, it is important to note that the claim came from G for Games. Tech Radar has reached out to Nokia to confirm the matter but in fact claims that unless the site can be considered way off base then the matter should be real as it sounds.

Many smartphone manufacturers have been eyeing China and it appears the same goes for China Nokia. Further, the company will be targeting the low-end to mid-tier markers with their return to the Android series. The executive did not divulge further details about the matter.

Nonetheless, the focus on China cannot be refuted as Wang reportedly said that Nokia's R&D center has been decided to relocate permanently to Sichuan, China. As the devices will come in 2016, it is hard to pinpoint the OS they will be running with. Consumers will have to wait for final details on the matter from Nokia.

G for Games further noted: "No other details worth mentioning have been revealed, but at this point we could take a chance at guessing the company’s future plans, speculating that Nokia’s decision to relocate in China might lead to challenging the likes of Xiaomi, Lenovo, Oppo and ZTE next year." Apple has also been setting its sights on the country possibly adding to the list of competitors.
