Even though Zayn Malik said his main reason for quitting One Direction was to be a normal 22-year-old again, many believe his fiancée Perrie Edwards is to blame for this. Many compared her to John Lennon’s wife Yoko Ono, who was also blamed for the split of “The Beatles.”

Daily Star UK reports that fans were majorly disappointed and hurt that Zayn decided to quit One Direction for good. A significant number of the hurt fans said it must be because of his fiancée that Zayn decided to quit. Some took to Twitter to directly said “this is all Perrie’s fault.” Many of them said Perrie could be compared to Yoko Ono for breaking up the band. A hardcore fan's tweet read: "When i say Perrie is the next Yoko Ono I mean it with all my heart.”

It could be remembered that for the past weeks, Zayn was feeling stressed for the drama he had to deal with after rumours of him cheating his fiancée emerged. Malik was snapped holding hands with a partygoer in Thailand and rumours of him and the girl having a relationship sprouted. Zayn immediately took to Twitter to defend himself and expressed his love for Perrie. Zayn also claimed there are many people jealous of his relationship and wants to break it. Later on, as the band prepared for the Asian leg of their tour, Zayn left the band and flew back to U.K.

The fans may believe Zayn did this out of Perrie's doing, but on the Facebook Page of the band, Zayn did not mention Perrie or any of the drama that he had to deal with while with the band. He said the past five years with his bandmates were more than what he could ever imagine. He also apologized to his fans. The remaining band members, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne also released a statement saying they would continue the band as a four-piece. The four wish Zayn well on his future endeavors and said he would always be considered a good friend. The band members also announced that they would drop a new album soon.
