Pokemon X and Y Tips and News: Nintendo Promises Bug Fix; Obtaining Legendary Bird Pokemon; and Rollerskating Tricks
[UPDATE: More news--including the spotted Missingno glitch in Pokemon X and Y.]
The Pokemon X and Y game-corrupting bug has already reached Nintendo, and it has confirmed that a patch will be developed in order to fix the offending file.
Found and experienced by a number of players when Pokemon X and Y launched last week, the bug freezes the game when you save yours while in Lumiose City. You will most likely be unable to load the game once you have done a save in Lumiose City, so all of your progress will have to be deleted and restarted.
"We are preparing an application to recover saved game data for players whom this has happened to. This will be made possible to download from Nintendo eShop as soon as possible," said Nintendo in their official website.
However, for the meantime, Nintendo has given a useful tip on which areas should not be avoided, as seen in the map provided below. Any of the areas in blue should be avoided for now, at least until the fix is rolled out.
Obtaining the Legendary Pokemon
In Pokemon X and Y, there are three Legendary Pokemon birds that can be caught, and a new report has been revealed on how to get one of them.
According to Gamezone, Legendary birds are the only types of Pokemon with which you can get only one kind even if there are three types available. The key is choosing which kind of starter you have start with, as only one appears with a particular starter.
If you have chosen Chespin, Articuno will appear. Zapdos comes with Fennekin and Moltres will be available for fighting and catching if you choose Froakie. When aiming to catch the legendary bird, make sure you have a lot of Ultra Balls and healing features and a False Swipe-toting Pokemon, so that you won't fully knock out a Pokemon.
Why Super Training is super important
Pokemon X and Y comes with the added feature of Super Training, which is basically an optional feature, but one that can give you more advantages if you want to get ahead as a Pokemon trainer.
The most obvious advantage is that you get to train your Pokemon to increase the effort values, including attack, special defense, and speed, to name a few.
But Super Training is also a great way for you to max out your Pokemon's affection, which Canada.com reports is a great way to bring better game to the battle. For instance, Super Training lets your Pokemon survive attacks even with 1HP left, even though it gets blasted with a knockout attack.
Another advantage is that your Pokemon will land better critical hits and lessen their number of misses. It will also deter status ailments because it trusts you more--so go wild on caring for your Pokemon. Lastly, evolving Pokemons will be easier especially for those who have friendship as a requirement for evolution.
Fun rollerskating tricks in Lumiose City
Lumiose City is a place to be avoided if you're looking for an area to save your game, but there are quite a few things that you can do there in Pokemon X and Y.
For instance, one fun way to kill time in Lumiose City is by learning rollerskating and skating tricks. NowGamer reports that there are five tricks that you can learn, each of which are conducted in various places in Lumiose City.
In North Boulevard, you can skate a high speed over a ledge and do a backflip. At Vert Plaza, you can get a faster start to accomplish a running start. You can do a Parallel Swizzle at South Boulevard by pushing on the D-pad in the opposite direction of skating.
Estivel Avenue is also a good place to do the 360. All you need to do is rotate the Circle-pad really quickly. Lastly, the Lost Hotel can grant you the Cosmic Flip, which is the last unlockable trick, but also one where you need the other four.
