Those who have been following the development of Sony's very own virtual reality head-mounted display, which is said to go up against the Oculus Rift, will be happy to know that a patent for this has been published in Christmas 2013.

However, it seems that there is still little detail added to what is already known about the head-mounted display, and it's already not much to begin with. The Oculus Rift already has quite a lot of developments that have been publicized, Sony's VR headset is still lacking in the crucial details that can be a deciding factor for those who are still thinking of switching to the next-gen PS4.

PlayStation Lifestyle has delved deeper into the patent and found a couple of interesting points that may be related to the VR headset in development. Considering that Sony has dabbled in the technology for several times, there is a possibility that previous patents and technology may find its way to the new Sony VR headset.

One of these technologies may be from Sony Japan's, which ensures a lesser strain on the gamer because of the way that the device is structured to evenly displace the load on the user's entire head.

Sensors were also mentioned, including those that measure brightness, accelerometer and even a mounting sensor, which can add information to the overall CPU of the VR headset.

These are good additions, especially if Sony will be building on existing designs and features, expected on the VR headset for the PS4. With DriveClub rumored to make use of a VR headset, this will definitely put the PS4 at a good position once the influx of new games and accessories hit the next-gen console wars in 2014.
