Samsung Galaxy S4 And Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat Update Release Confirmed
The Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy S4 was confirmed with SFR. The French carrier claimed that the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update will finally come between January and February next year.
In September, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was released with the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, making it the last device to have the Android Jelly Bean OS. Released back in April, the Samsung Galaxy S4 arrived with the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and it was recently updated to the Android 4.3.
At this point, rumors suggested the Android 4.4 KitKat will come next for the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy S4. The first batch of smartphones to receive the Android 4.4 KitKat updates was the Nexus line-up, followed by Google Play devices and then the Moto X. Samsung has remained silent on its Android 4.4 KitKat update. But now, rumors suggested it will come early next year as reported by Gotta Be Mobile.
SFR has backed up these rumors noting the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update are already scheduled either for January or February release. The French carrier claimed these will roll out between those months but there are no specific release dates yet.
This news from the SFR not only offers a confirmation on the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy S4 but it also provides a timeframe for the users when to expect these updates.
Typically, carriers are relatively slower than unbranded and unlocked devices, as such there might be some Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 software updates earlier than the reported January and February release.
Currently, SFR is the only carrier that confirmed the news about the Android 4.4 KitKat updates but we expect to see more carriers to supply information. Nevertheless, it must be noted that Samsung and its carriers are usually silent about software updates until the release date arrives.
It is not yet clear what will come along these OS updates but Samsung is known to upgrade its TouchWiz software with the Android software. Along with the Android 4.4 KitKat update, we might see some TouchWiz upgrades, enhancements and fixes.
