Even though, Samsung Galaxy S6 and the curved sibling Galaxy S6 Edge have made an impact, a couple of very important features are missing from the devices. For instance, the expandable storage option, removable battery and water-resistant exterior features have been removed in order to make way for killer design and usability in the flagship device. As it turns out, the South Korean tech giant is gearing up to compensate these deficits in the form of “Samsung Galaxy S6 Active.”

In case, potential buyers have been waiting for a high-end Samsung device with microSD card support and water- and dust-protection, the upcoming Galaxy S6 Active could very well be one of the best choices. Apparently, a Reddit user named “Garshol” had a nice chat with an unnamed Samsung representative. And thereby, details regarding company’s past and future decisions have been revealed.

If reports are true, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 Active specifications will be similar to the flagship Galaxy S6. However, there will reportedly be no fingerprint scanner and heart-rate monitor. Alternatively, the handset will come with physical keys in the front and will apparently give the look of the yet-to-be-announced Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3, notes GSM Arena.

The stand out Samsung Galaxy S6 Active features will reportedly include the water- and dust-resistant exterior, along with the microSD card slot and the much-appreciated removable battery. Furthermore, the Galaxy S6 Active release date is expected to be in mid-summer time frame, but there is no information available to estimate the price of the rugged handset.

Meanwhile, the reddit user Garshol apparently asked the Samsung representative to shed some light on the decision to axe water/dust-proofing and the microSD slot on its Galaxy S6 handsets. According to him, Samsung reportedly conducted a market study specific to the water protection feature. And the team seemingly concluded that “users didn't want the hassle of the port cover.”

Also, when asked about nixing the microSD card slot, Garshol apparently said, this particular feature was removed “to be more similar to Apple, both regarding design, storage capacity and core functionality.” Nonetheless, readers should note that Samsung has not confirmed any of the aforesaid information about the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Active specifications and release date thus far.
