It’s been just few months that Samsung enthusiasts just got their hands on the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge and the South Korean smartphone maker is making headlines for its upcoming Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, according to reports.

The information was leaked by OnLeaks via Twitter in which the tipster confirms the size of the S6 iteration that is reportedly called the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, reports Firstpost. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the S6 Edge Plus will measure 154.45×75.80×6.85mm, which means that it could feature a display size of 5.5-inches, slightly wider than the 5.1 inch display featured in current model, according to the Firstpost report.

The S6 Edge Plus is also expected to sport the curved edges just like the existing Edge model and the leaked images also show a larger USB Type-C port. While the S6 Edge was powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 7420 CPU, the S6 Edge Plus is likely to be powered by Snapdragon 808 CPU, reports Firstpost.

As per the Forbes report, “Returning to an external supplier for this key component will drive up the build cost of the S6 Edge Plus, but it’s worth noting that the S6 family was the first time Samsung had supplied handsets with the Exynos system outside of its home territory in any significant volume.”

The S6 Edge Plus is expected to be launched before the IFA event that is scheduled to be held in September, reports BGR. Samsung has sold over 6 million smartphones by April and it is expected that the flagship sales could reach 50 million before the end of the year, as per the BGR report.

Currently, the S6 series is in high demand and is selling easily. It is also leading in terms of sales among Android devices, however, Samsung’s decision to launch a handset that would fit between the S and Note series has left people wondering why the company is working towards a less powerful, larger device that would compete with iPhone, as per the Gearburn report.
