'Scandal' Update: Season 4 Guest-Star Set To Become Olivia Pope's New Gladiator
“Scandal” Season 4 saw the exit of two gladiators. Harrison (Columbus Short) crossed over to another world while Abby (Darby Stanchfield) went to White House and took over the job as a press secretary. With only Quinn (Katie Lowes) and Huck (Guillermo Diaz) working at Olivia Pope & Associates (OPA), Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) needs to expand her team. And it looks like she will be soon adding a new gladiator to OPA, probably in “Scandal” Season 5.
Olivia will finally hire a new associate to fill the vacancy left by the exit of the two gladiators, according to TV Line’s report. This new person is not new to the audience, as Olivia has already crossed paths with him or her. And this character has appeared as a guest-star in the show, not as a series regular, the report has hinted.
There is speculation that the new gladiator is likely to be Marcus Walker (Cornelius Smith Jr.). He first made his appearance as a neighbourhood activist in episode 14 of “Scandal” Season 4, titled “The Lawn Chair.” Olivia and Marcus’ first interaction was acrimonious, as the latter did not trust her. Marcus returned in episode 19, titled “I’m Just a Bill.”
The episode 19 saw Marcus running for the post of Mayor. He called up Olivia when the Mayor’s wife was killed. Marcus was sleeping with her. He wanted Olivia to fix it so that the murder does not affect his budding political career. Later, Marcus confessed at a press conference that he was having an affair with his opponent’s wife and revealed that Mayor was the killer. Olivia told him that he did the right thing by admitting.
The current season of “Scandal” introduced a number of new characters, with recurring and guest-starring roles, including Lauren Bowles as Mellie’s (Bellamy Young) sister Harmony, Portia de Rossi as Elizabeth North, Brian White as Franklin Russell -- the upcoming episode will reveal his fate in the show -- Matthew Del Negro as Michael Ambruso, the prostitute who got married to Cyrus (Jeff Perry).
“Scandal” Season 4 is scheduled to air its final episode on May 07. This episode 22 is “You Can't Take Command.” The filming of this episode recently wrapped up.
