SNK Sale Announced For Mobile Devices Next Week
Game developer SNK Playmore has garnered a reputation for being one of the heavyweight fighting game developers in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Titles like “King of Fighters” and “Samurai Showdown” were considered at the time to be incredible 2D fighting games and were comparable to “Street Fighter” from Capcom. Now a new generation of mobile gamers can experience some of SNK’s best games as there is an SNK sale for the App Store and the Google Play store to celebrate the 25th birthday of the Neo Geo console the games were associated with.
Fans interested in reliving some SNK-related nostalgia could check out the games on sale through the SNK Playmore pages of the App Store and Google Play. These games include “King of Fighters 98,” “Fatal Fury Special,” “Samurai Showdown 2” and “Metal Slug X,” amongst other exciting titles.
SNK Playmore has slowly been releasing a lot of the company’s older arcade games to the online game stores of the mobile devices. However, they have also released an original title based on one of their older properties in “Metal Slug Defense.” The free-to-play tower defense title features various character sprites from previous “Metal Slug” games and has even incorporated other SNK characters to the mix.
The company has recently turned its attention to mobile gamers as of late, with their last console game being “The King of Fighters XIII” for arcades, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 back in 2010. Aside from that, the company hasn’t released any major console games since then and has seemingly decided to focus on mobile gaming for the time being.
Fans of SNK Playmore will be happy to know that the current SNK sale is going to last till the end of next week. An article from gaming site Siliconera has confirmed that the sale will keep going till May 7, so fans of the company’s older fighting like “Samurai Showdown” and “Garou: mark of the Wolves” or their well-known “Metal Slug” games can check out their preferred smartphone or tablets online store and check out the games for themselves.
