Sony Xperia Z6, Z6 Mini, Z6 Compact, Z6 Plus and Z6 Compact variants to be revealed at CES 2016
Sony in 2015 released the Xperia Z5 in three variants
Sony has announced it will be present at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2016 on January 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Speculation is rife Sony will indeed reveal the Xperia Z6 since it’s been known for quite some time Sony intends to take the wraps off a new smartphone at CES, the world’s largest electronics show.
There's also word several variants of the Z6 will also be unveiled. The Sony Xperia Z6 will be available in five variants, according to Tech Grapple. The following are the supposed names of the different variants:
- Sony Xperia Z6 – will feature a 5.2-inch Quad HD screen and Snapdragon 820 chipset.
- Sony Xperia Z6 Mini – will arrive with a 4-inch HD screen and run the Snapdragon 620 chipset.
- Sony Xperia Z6 Compact – will come with a 4.6-inch full HD screen and a Snapdragon 820 SoC.
- Sony Xperia Z6 Plus – will be packed with a 5.8-inch Quad HD display along with a Snapdragon 820 chipset
- Sony Xperia Z6 Ultra – will house a mammoth Quad HD display of 6.4-inch and will be powered by Snapdragon 820 chipset.
This year, Sony released the Xperia Z5 in three variants. Of these three, the Xperia Z5 Premium came with a Quad HD resolution screen. Buzz indicates that instead of the Sony Xperia Z6 Premium, the Japanese smartphone maker might launch the Xperia Z6 Plus. Displays of the different Xperia Z6 variants are likely to arrive with a pressure sensitive feature like the 3D Touch on the Apple iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.
Sony has officially sent out invitations for its press conference to be held on Jan. 5 at 5:00 p.m. local time at Las Vegas, GSM Arena reported. It has announced it will reveal several other products like a supper slim TV, a virtual reality headset, a Cybershot camera and a smartphone. The Japanese tech giant hasn’t revealed any information on Xperia Z6 and its variants, however.
