'Suicide Squad': Jared Leto's The Joker Will 'Surpass' Heath Ledger's Performance
Jared Leto has reportedly been working so hard for his role in “Suicide Squad.” According to unnamed sources, the actor’s version of The Joker in the David Ayer film will outdo the late Heath Ledger’s performance in “The Dark Knight Returns.”
Notorious movie scoopster Umberto Gonzalez cited sources on his Instagram post who are saying that “Jared Leto is going all out for his portrayal” of the villain in “Suicide Squad.” These sources claimed the actor is even “staying in character behind the scenes on set.” Jared Leto’s performance of The Joker in the film will reportedly “rival if not surpass Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker.”
According to Comicbookmovie, the 30 Seconds to Mars frontman is somehow going for the same preparation as what Heath Ledger did when he was cast for The Joker in “The Dark Knight Returns.” The latter reportedly went to extreme measures in finding ways to embrace his character. Per writer Josh Wilding, the late Heath Ledger lived in a hotel room and even kept “a diary of what he thought someone as twisted as the Clown Prince of Crime would think about and find funny (AIDS and landmines for example). Hopefully though Jared Leto will not embrace his dark character too much.
Details as to how much preparation and how far into the character portrayal Jared Leto has done have yet to be known. Physically the actor has undergone numerous changes for his role in “Suicide Squad.” He had chopped off his long hair and even shaved off his beard. Recently, Jared Leto also revealed he’s been bulking up as The Joker.
Jared Leto recently teased how The Joker’s body would look in “Suicide Squad” on his Instagram page. The actor shared his photo showing him wearing a muscle tee with the superman logo printed out front. He captioned the image, “Don’t make me punish you.” His photo has since received over 214 thousand likes since it was shared a couple of days ago.
The actor shared a similar image a couple of weeks ago on April 28, where he’s also showing off his muscles. However, according to Kathlene Perricone from RyanSeacrest.com, it’s obvious from the two photos that Jared Leto has bulked up even more for his role as The Joker in “Suicide Squad.”
