Twitter's trending topic since yesterday was about Katy Perry and Russel Brand's divorce. So are the tweets true or not? Well they were trending so it must be.

Hollywood is always out on the prowl for celebrity splits and this married couple is no exception to the scrutiny of the general public.

Who would believe otherwise with tweets coming out here and there? However trending these tweets may be, the rumors are all false.

Being famous and in love, Russel Brand and Katy Perry are continuously hounded by the press. Even their own Twitter accounts aren't safe from them. Still the couple stay strong despite the current Twitter wars going around.

"Just cause we don't flaunt our relationship doesn't mean there's something wrong w/ it. Privacy is our luxury. #tabloidsrtrash #gossipisgross," tweeted the singer, Katy Perry, last July.

With the Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore divorce over and done and the not so recent Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries swift split, it comes as no surprise to hear more rumors spreading about.

Multiple sources about the couples split are pointing to a phantom TMZ report which has already been take down. Harvey Levin, TMZ's main scoop sniffer, however did tweet to clear the site's name.

"A news outlet saying TMZ posted a story Katy Perry is getting divorced. We did not post such a story...just made a call... 100% NO DIVORCE," tweeted Harey Levin. Way to clear that one out.

As for the couple's say on the rumors and tweets, no word from them yet but one spokesperson for the British comedian did have a say about the rumors.

"Spoken to Russel Brand's peeps. Internet rumour - escalated out of control. Will check but we've not heard anything. #thatsthatfornow," tweeted Dean Piper.

The couple is known not only for their separate backgrounds, they're also best known for their ability to squash rumors flat. Remember those baby bump rumors? Katy Perry sure had a way with words to silence them. Those trending tweets should probably stop now.
