Nintendo unveiled the second generation of Wii, Wii U, at the Electric Entertainment Expo 2012. The introduction of this new game console will surely become a rival of existing consoles in the market like the Xbox Kinect, which was launched in 2010. How Wii U would fare if compared to the Xbox Kinect?

The second generation of Wii seems so high tech with touch screen controller, precision motion controls, and full HD graphics. The touch screen controller is the latest innovation in the popular game console. It is equipped with a 6.2-inch screen that displays maps or other information to complement game play and acts as a touchscreen game board and serves as a second monitor.

The device also sports a near-field-communication (NFC) technology and can be a television remote control, according to the demonstration. According to Ninetendo president Satoru Iwata, the built-in screen of Wii U allows users to exchange messages between people using Wii U tablets and to play with or against one another online.

The Kinect for Xbox 360 of simply Kinect is a controller-free console for the Xbox 360 video game platform. Kinect peripheral allows for "controller-free" gaming. The device reads the motion of the player's entire body. One of the advantages of Kinect is the variety of game media that can be played through the device. Unlike with Wii U, where users can play Wii Disc only.

Kinect also offers monthly or yearly subscriptions where users are provided with online service. Moreover, it has an installed WiFi that enables players to browse the internet and play online games.

Microsoft and Sony are still mum about the successors of their own consoles. However, new games are also introduced in the annual E3 convention.

It is the day one of the E3 Convention. Electric Entertainment Expo 2012 or known as E3 2012 is an annual trade show for computer and video games. This year's event is currently taking place at the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 5 to June 7.
