The leaked teaser for “X-Men: Apocalypse” that was released at the recent San Diego Comic-Con only briefly gave a glimpse at the titular villain. It doesn’t really tell viewers much about Apocalypse and his role in the film. However, movie director Bryan Singer has revealed some details about the mutant and also explained why he is the ultimate villain.

In an interview with Yahoo Movies, Bryan Singer teased that En Sabah Nur will be different compared to the other villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “Apocalypse makes no distinction between humans and mutants, only between the weak and the strong,” he said.

Bryan Singer also explained why “X-Men: Apocalypse” will be different from the previous “X-Men” films. Instead of showing a film that usually tells the story of the battle between humans and mutants, the sequel will reportedly focus more on the “global issues.” The movie director added that “X-Men: Apocalypse” will also deal with the concept of ancient mutanism, gods and men.”

Apocalypse is believed to be the ultimate villain, since he will bring with him the “end of the world.” Singer once hinted of the terror the mutant will bring to mankind and the film’s heroes through a photo he posted on Instagram. He shared a still from the set of “X-Men: Apocalypse” and captioned it, “Parents of #ScottSummers #Cyclops and #AlexSummers #Havok watch the end of the world as they know it unfold on TV.” He added the hash tags #XMEN and #XMenApocalypse.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” will reportedly deal with the events following “Days of Future Past.” According to Screenrant, the sequel will show the consequences after the mutants’ identities were publicly revealed in “DOFP.” This end of the world scene is supposedly what transpires in 1983, where the film’s timeline is set.

Oscar Isaac, who plays the role of En Sabah Nur also told Monkeys Fighting Robots during an interview about “X-Men: Apocalypse” that he has taken a biblical approach to his portrayal of the villain. The actor associated his mutant character to “the second coming of the judgements of god.”
