After the E3 2013, there may be another place where the PS4 and Xbox One can face off in another round of console wars. Microsoft has recently confirmed that it will hold a press conference at the Gamescom this year.

Sony is already a regular at Gamescom, and has already announced beforehand that it will be showcasing more of its exclusive games and title releases at the event.

As for Microsoft, GameSpot reports that Microsoft may be gunning for a more cohesive game behind the Xbox One, presumably one that has been consolidated and refined after the touted Xbox 180 policy reversal that happened in June.

"We're excited to be back at Gamescom this year but we're not announcing any further details on our plans at this time," said a Microsoft representative to GameSpot. "Please stay tuned for more details!"

Watch out for the Gamescom this August, running from the 21st to the 25th in Cologne, Germany. With both Sony and Microsoft present, there's bound to be another headline-worthy event.

Advertising: Where Kinect does its heavy-lifting

The fully-integrated console idea of the Xbox One is slowly coming to light, as the Xbox Live advertising division at Microsoft has finally revealed that the Kinect will also involve a lot of advertising as part of its strategy.

This means that the facial and voice recognition aspects will keep close tabs on the Xbox One's users, capturing patterns to provide a better way to advertise.

However, what's notable about the endeavor is that Microsoft does not plan to create a passive relationship between the ads and the consumers. Taking off from lessons learned from Xbox 360 ads and complementing the Nuads campaign, VG 24/7 reports that the Xbox One will now stress the more immersive and interactive aspect of delivering advertising.

"On Xbox, the ad is part of the actual experience, it's not something that is outside," said a representative from Microsoft's Xbox Live advertising division. "The only difference is that the advertisement we have is quite small and not disruptive so people are not aware of clicking on the banners because they know this is a part of the whole experience on the dash."

Microsoft does assure that, instead of being wary about ads in the same manner as on the Internet, where viruses and scams abound, the Microsoft rep also tells VG 24/7 that the ads that will appear are made by Microsoft and tailored for its consumers.

"The users know that this is something that, when they click on it, they won't be hit by something crazy or something dangerous like on the web. Everything that lands there, we create."

No headset with the Xbox One bundle

For those who thought that they would be getting the next-gen headset for free as a bundled package with the Xbox One console, there's going to be a bit of sad news.

The Official Xbox 360 Magazine has talked to a Microsoft representative, and has tweeted that the news is not true.

"We spoke to a Microsoft PR rep about the Xbox One headset thing earlier. Plans remain unchanged, as far as he knows."

Ubergizmo adds that there had already been an explanation given by Microsoft as to why the headset will not come with the bundle. The earlier reports of the headset being offered as a bundle came from a UK product distributor of Microsoft, putting the hopes up of those still trying to justify the $499 price tag of the Xbox One.

Still, previous reports have already suggested that an adapter for the Xbox 360 headset will be developed and released later after the Xbox One releases to its target territories come the holidays.
