Xbox One Sales Gear Up in China And UK As October System Update Improves Hardware
Since the consoles' release last year, the Xbox One has usually been reported to trail behind Sony's PS4 in terms of sales, with only a few months seeing Microsoft's next-gen console getting ahead of the game. And following what some see as a fiasco launch in Japan, tides now seem to be turning for the Xbox One.
Despites its three-day delayed launch in China, reports are now trickling in regarding the Xbox One's rather successful debut in China following the ban. It appears that Chinese fans are welcoming the debut, with long lines in stores reported and documented by Kotaku.
The midnight launch proved to be a success for a total of 4,000 stores, particularly in major areas like Shanghai and Beijing. If that's not enough excitement for the console, Cinema Blend adds that Microsoft and BesTV has managed to move 100,000 units of the Xbox One. This is pretty good news on the part of the Xbox One, seeing as how Time reported that it was quite the expensive console at 3,699 yuan (roughly translating to $600).
Apart from China, the Xbox One is also moving ground in the U.K., with reports of a massive boost in sales numbers following the release of "FIFA 15." MCVUK quotes a source from a retailer that the Xbox One has even managed to surpass PS4 sales as the boost clocked in at 155%.
This was also attributed to the recent price cut that was made available all over the U.K. This is in comparison to PS4 sales in U.K. that only went up by 80%, also following a price cut for Sony's console.
The tides may be steadily turning for the Xbox One, especially with the expected debut of the October system update that will be adding quite a number of new features. Kotaku was exploring the improvements made to the Xbox One for the October system update, the main beef of which involves better overall design and function for the Snap Center.
The organization of the apps and their compatibility and better functionality with the Xbox One October system update makes for a much better user experience on the console. As emphasized by the report, multitasking becomes a more fluid and enjoyable function with the Xbox One.
The Xbox One October system update is currently on preview mode for early adopters of the update. But given that it is already the start of October, Microsoft may be giving out the announcement for the update to go live to the public sometime in the coming weeks.
