Now in production for his post “Sons of Anarchy” TV show, showrunner Kurt Sutter is transforming himself into The Dark Mute for his new medieval series “The Bastard Executioner.” Known for his roles as hitman Magos Dezerian in “The Shield” and Otto Delaney in “Sons of Anarchy,” Sutter is joining his cast the third time around as the man who rarely speaks or show his face.

“I’m enjoying playing The Dark Mute,” Sutter wrote on his Instagram post on April 3, Friday. “However the 4 hours of prosthetics is nothing compared to the residual glue that I wake up with the next morning. My eyes are literally stuck together and my hair looks like I hosted a bukaki party.”

The 50-year-old series creator is currently in the UK for the pilot episode of the show together with lead director and executive producer Paris Barclay (“Glee”). The Sutter and Barclay tandem are still tight and strong after their hit biker drama series and now the two are bonding in a period drama that tells of a warrior knight in King Edward I’s charge.

Both Barclay and Sutter have been sharing some snaps from their production set and just recently they shared a few pictures of their “Bastard’s” set which consists of a medieval village and a castle. Now that the castle is almost done, the cast crew are all set to begin an epic journey to be headed by an unknown Australian theatre actor Lee Jones as the Bastard Executioner.

Sutter is also set to reunite with his SOA co-stars SAMCRO matriarch Katey Sagal (Gemma Teller) and Timothy V. Murphy (Galen O’Shay). Sutter’s wife will star as The Dark Mute’s mate, the mystical and beautiful Annora of the Alders. She is described as prescient who offers predictions, cures and potions. While Murphy will play Father Ruskin, a former soldier who left the service for the seminary. He is a priest, rector and teacher of the court, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“The Bastard Executioner” also stars “True Blood” actor Stephen Moyer, “Penny Dreadful” star Danny Sapani and “The Americans” lead star Matthew Rhys for a guest-starring role. If things will go according to plan, Sutter wishes to premiere #TBX on Fall 2015.
