'The Big Bang Theory' Season 9 Spoilers: Episode 1 to feature Penny, Leonard's Las Vegas wedding
The much-awaited Las Vegas wedding is happening. Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) are getting married in the premiere episode of “The Big Bang Theory” Season 9.
“The Big Bang Theory” Season 8 finale saw Leonard and Penny deciding to tie the knot in Las Vegas. This impromptu wedding, however, looked like was not going to happen when Leonard confessed to Penny about his infidelity. He had kissed a woman during his stay at a ship in the North Sea for a research expedition.
After Leonard’s confession, Penny’s enthusiasm ebbed away, and the atmosphere in the car that they were driving to Las Vegas turned frosty. It looked like these two would probably never reach Las Vegas.
A clip from the premiere episode, shared by TV Line, clears the web of doubts. Penny and Leonard are set to reach Las Vegas and will be seen saying “I do” in Episode 1, and their friends are reportedly going to watch the ceremony via satellite. The clip provides a glimpse of Penny in her wedding dress as she and Leonard get ready to walk down the aisle.
Also Steve Molaro, showrunner of “The Big Bang Theory,” confirmed to TV Line that Penny and Leonard are getting married in the opening episode of the new season. “We’re nine years in and we want to keep things moving forward, as well as exciting and scary and fun.” he said. “And I think this a great way to do it."
He also said that Penny has been grappling with commitment issues when it comes to Leonard, and she now feels, “‘How much longer are we going to go back and forth on this? Let’s just jump in and hope for the best.'”
Meanwhile, the honeymoon period is not going to last for long, as Leonard’s woman from the ship will be making an appearance in Episode 2 of “The Big Bang Theory” Season 9. As previously reported, Melissa Tang has been cast as Mandy, the woman Leonard kissed on the ship.
Molaro said that Penny and Leonard’s wedding is just the beginning of their story. “As fun and as great as it is to see them get married, that’s only part of it,” he told TV Line.
“The Big Bang Theory” Season 9 premieres on Sept. 21 in the U.S.
