“Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” is looking to be another excellent entry in the series but what would set it apart from other “Call of Duty ” games is the new features it is set to bring. A video showcases a new “Free Run Mode” which channels parkour titles such as “Mirror’s Edge” and “Dying Light.”

In a video uploaded by Treyarch, the developer showcased a new mode for “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” which sets aside the usual run and gun gameplay of the series. The new mode will feature parkour-like obstacles which players have to accomplish in succession. Free Run mode is a new multiplayer mode that allows the player to run, jump and shoot at targets. Essentially, the game is won through being the fastest player to accomplish the course.

The mode will put players to the test as it will measure how a player plans and budgets his momentum as he goes by each obstacle. Like real life free running, the new mode will have the risk of falling or tripping if a player acts too soon or too late. If a player fails to perfectly time his actions, his time will be adversely affected as his starting point will be reset, decreasing his chances of winning.

The video shows off how the developer managed to include the shooting mechanic of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.” During their run, players can pick up a gun to shoot at targets mid-air. However, players should be aware that too much bullet consumption will give out a time penalty.

Each area in the mode will become increasingly difficult, IGN reports. Treyarch notes that the puzzles and obstacles become more complex as they progress. What this means is that the chances of failing and time penalties are relatively increased.

“Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” is set to launch on Nov. 6 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. It will bring new features including a new realistic mode and a Cybercore mechanic.
