Recent benchmark results give an idea about the upcoming Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 8 handset with a quad-core processor. Some reports suggest that the Finnish company's enhancement on the processor could be for the much anticipated Nokia Lumia EOS.

The benchmark results appeared through the GFXBench database with only a couple of details on the upcoming Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 8 handset. It shows a Qualcomm chipset with 4 CPUs and an Adreno 305 Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) similar to the one found in the Nokia Lumia 620.

The quad-core processor will give the new Nokia smart phone key developments compared to the previous Lumia handset. Additionally, the new Windows Phone 8 quad-core handset can offer 702MTexels or textured pixels against the Nokia Lumia 620 smart phone's 152MTexels.

The Qualcomm processor that could possibly be incorporated is the recently proclaimed Snapdragon 400 quad-core chip perhaps capable of supporting the new Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 8 handset with the four Cortex-A7 cores clocked at 1.2GHz. It has not been confirmed if there is a specially made processor for the Windows Phone but the company is expected to release several other quad-core chips.

Though the exact version of Windows Phone 8 was not identified, a GDR3 update of the Windows Phone 8 introduces the support for the 1080p Full HD resolution displays. The device's noteworthy benchmark listing features the 1280x720p screen display resolution that can be found on the existing Windows Phone 8 handsets.

However, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop acknowledged last April about battery life and management issues encountered upon using the quad-core processor. Elop noted that smart phones running on quad-core processors are not "useful for consumers all the time."

Appearance of the benchmark results on the new Nokia handset match up with the upcoming Nokia event on July 11 where the Nokia Lumia EOS smart phone is expected to make an appearance. It is still unclear if the benchmark is actually for the EOS device with the impressive 41MP camera despite previous reports claiming that a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor will be incorporated in the PureView smart phone.

Nokia is expected to provide a fix to any battery management issues before the quad-core Lumia smart phone release date. The device could be a strong competitor against rival smart phones like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One.
