Melbourne Robot beats Rubik’s Cube Record
First they beat humans in Jeopardy, now the machines have conquered the Rubik's cube. A group of students from Melbourne's Swinburne University of Technology have created the robot, aptly named Ruby. Ruby was able to solve the Rubik's Cube in a record 10.18 seconds, the fastest time by a robot. It beat the old record of 18 seconds set by Rubot II, developed by Peter Redmond of Ireland.

Internode releases new mobile hotspot device
Internode takes another stab at the Wi-Fi pocket modem market with the new Huawei E5832, a personal wireless router that can share a 3G internet connection with up to three other Wi-Fi enabled devices like notebooks, tablets and smartphones. The Huawei is a less costly version of the MiFi 2352 mobile hotspot device that Internode released last year. The Huawei costs $149 outright or $49 on a 24-month-plan.

Australian Xbox users were given an early Christmas present when Foxtel declared that there will be no data charges for Telstra BigPond customers who are signed up to the Xbox 360 service. The pay subscription service also announced that BigPond TV channels which include the AFL and NRL channels, TVN and BigPond Sport TV will become available to Xbox gamers who use Foxtel's Xbox package.
