Samsung CEO Denies Galaxy Note 5 Will Be Out In July
Samsung’s CEO Shin Jong-kyun has just denied recent rumors that the Galaxy Note 5 will be out in July. According to previous reports, the Galaxy S6’s sales were not as good as expected and have been quite underwhelming – which was why the Korean tech giant opted to launch their next flagship phablet ahead of its official release date.
Other reports have indicated that Samsung has rushed the Galaxy Note 5 in order to meet their July deadline so that they have something new to battle the iPhone 6S from Apple, which will reportedly be out in August, according to Who Wired. Some even went on to say that the units will be completed by the middle of next month and then pre-orders will immediately be accepted before the unit is officially launched into the market by the end of July.
However, Shin has refuted these claims and has reiterated that they did not send any Galaxy Note 5 prototypes to their partners because of low sales for the Galaxy S6, according to GSM Arena.
Shin met with reporters at the Seocho Samsung Electronics building and confirmed that their current flagship smartphone is actually doing very great on the market – with sales having recently surpassed their established milestone of 10 million units.
That said, it would appear that Samsung did no changes on their usual September cycle of releases, which they have traditionally done during every year’s IFA event.
Another report from GSM Arena has stated that Samsung might introduce an all-new device this summer – a new unit that also features a curved screen display that is unlike the S6 or the Note 5. Rumor has it that this could be Samsung discreet preparation for Apple’s announcement – just like the stunt that they pulled when they suddenly launched the Galaxy Alpha.
