Samsung Plans For A Foldable Display After the Galaxy S5 Release Date In March 2014
Foldable displays won't likely be on board the Samsung Galaxy S5 or the Galaxy Note 4. But it appears Samsung plans for devices with foldable display in 2015. There is a possibility that the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy Note 5 will both feature the foldable display.
Although the Galaxy S5 is reported to include the foldable display, it is expected to launch in a few weeks' time with 5.2 inches QHD high resolution display. But the display is not expected to be derived from the Samsung Youm technology.
Samsung announced it is considering a three-display for the Galaxy Note 4, which allows users to view the screen from various angles. Galaxy Note 4 is not expected to be launched until later this year, likely at IFA in Berlin, Germany in the fall. What is certain at this point is that the three-sided display is next in line for the Korean tech giant's arsenal.
Samsung was showing off a paper thin 5.68-inch foldable high resolution AMOLED display in Las Vegas at CES 2014, according to ETNews. In the event, the display was not announced officially and it was only shown off in private.
Also, Samsung is expected to install this foldable technology on its smartphones in 2015 but nothing is sure yet as the foldable display seen at the CES 2014 was just a prototype.
However, the existence of the display at that incredible size indicates that there is big chance that the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note 2015 devices will feature the foldable display. Given Samsung's timing, Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 will unlikely have the foldable technology but the next-generation Samsung smartphones, presumably called the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5, will have it.
Although the display will unlikely be on board in 2014 Samsung flagship devices, it indicates that the future of foldable displays for smartphones appear bright and those enthusiasts who are looking forward to a large yet slim design have a reason to be happy at this point.
