The long-forgotten “Xperia P” line-up of devices is apparently getting a successor in the form of “Sony Xperia P2.” A Chinese Website has reportedly added an image of the handset, in addition to giving out information on the specifications and dimensions.

Going by the uploaded image by CNBeta, the upcoming Sony Xperia P2 has been compared to the recently unveiled Xperia Z3 successor, the Sony Xperia Z4. As far as the reported Xperia P2 specifications go, the handset will feature a 5.2-inch Triluminos IPS display bundled with 1080p screen resolution, which is a replica of the new Xperia Z4. Plus, the phone will apparently be 10.9 mm thick and the display glass will be chamfered at the edges, notes GSM Arena.

Even though, the 10.9 mm thickness makes the device look bulky, the rear panel is reportedly curved in the ambit of 8.9 mm to 10.9 mm. In any case, the highlight of the Xperia P2 is the massive battery capacity of 4,240 mAh unit. GSM Arena says, such a huge battery capacity is prevalent only among huge phablets and the Motorola Maxx/Turbo smartphones.

Speaking of the camera specification, the upcoming Xperia P series of handset will reportedly sport a 12 MP Exmor RS sensor unit with dual-LED flash. In addition, there will also be a Sony G OSS lens for optical image stabilisation (OIS) support. Furthermore, there will also be a gracious 5.1 MP front-facing camera unit for capturing selfies. While the primary camera can record 2160p videos, the secondary one settles for 1080p videos.

Under the hood, the Sony Xperia P2 will reportedly be powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset and will be backed by a good 3 GB of RAM configuration. When it comes to memory configuration, Sony has apparently equipped 32 GB of in-built storage capacity. However, there’s no confirmation on the microSD card slot at this point. Notably, similar to the Xperia P released in 2012, the successor Xperia P2 will also come with a transparent strip beneath the display and this strip will likely have the capability to illuminate, notes GSM Arena. In any case, readers should note that, Sony has not confirmed the Xperia P2 specifications or existence thus far.
