The Top Twitter Topics for 2011, So Far
What's the best about the end of the year? The compilation of the most talked about of course and what better way to summarize it all then through Twitter.
With over 200 million users and counting, Twitter the ever famous social networking site, is the best place to get the latest on celebrity news, movies, television series and a whole lot more. Now with the year almost over, here are the top trending topics tweeted so far.
ABC's Pretty Little Liars rules the chart with their heavily themed teen drama and angst series. Three million viewers got hooked on the show but in comparison to the audience that got hooked on Two and a Half Men, that would simply be chicken feed.
Aside from the television series being a trending topic, two of the cast members were also tweeted much about. Who would these be? None other than Charlie Sheen and the recently divorced Ashton Kutcher.
Sheen ranked as the number one talked about actor while Kutcher placed number eight. Who else joins the league of talked-about men? Following his controversial stunt at the last Golden Globes, Ricky Gervais skyrocketed to number four. Thanks to his homophobic rant, actor Tracy Morgan jumped to rank number six on the list.
As for actresses who made it to the top trending topics, Elizabeth Taylor rules the chart. The 79-year old actress was followed by Black Swan's Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman, in no particular order.
Also included are Anne Hathaway, the vivacious Jennifer Lopez, Vampire Diaries' Nina Dobres and Harry Potter's Emma Watson.
Ruling the music scene, Rebecca Black refused to go down without a fight and she ruled the chart for her song Friday. Followed by Katy Perry's Last Friday Night, other trending topics also included Femme Fatale by Britney Spears and Nate Dogg coming in at second place.
There's a whole lot more to talk about on Twitter and with more celebrities on the verge of break-ups, the list might even change. For those who want a full list of trending topics as stated by Twitter, here it is. It may be quite different than the list released at Adage.com.
