'American Horror Story': New Details About Season 5 'Hotel' Revealed, Sarah Paulson Playing 'Absolute Evil'
Ryan Murphy, co-creator of FX’s horror anthology series “American Horror Story,” has revealed some details about “American Horror Story” Season 5, titled “Hotel.” He has said that the new season is much darker compared to previous seasons.
“The upcoming season that we’re doing is much more horror-based; it’s much more dark,” Murphy told Deadline.com. “It’s about a theme and an idea that’s very close to my heart that I’ve always wanted to do that’s a little bloodier and grislier I think than anything that we’ve done before; it’s straight horror this year.”
The co-creator also revealed that Lady Gaga has not been roped in to sing but has a “pure acting” part that is “bananas good.” Also Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters are playing “absolute evils” in the fifth installment of “American Horror Story.”
He also said that the new season is “true ensemble” compared to previous seasons, as they were all driven by lead characters portrayed by Jessica Lange. As Lange is not doing Season 5, Murphy said that the upcoming season has more male parts and more male stories. Matt Bomer is expected to play an important male character, and according to Murphy, the “White Collar” actor’s part is really big. He is not the only one who has a big part among the male actors who have been cast.
Murphy told Deadline.com that Wes Bentley, Peters and Finn Wittrock have “really big parts” in “American Horror Story” Season 5. He was quick to add that Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Paulson and Gaga’s parts are good as well, but the tone of the new season is different.
Meanwhile, speaking about the inspiration behind “Hotel,” Deadline.com quoted Murphy as saying, “it’s based in the hotel in horror movies and horror tropes.” He said that the set of “Hotel” is “incredible” and it is one of the best ever. Murphy revealed that they are building a six-story Art Deco hotel on the Fox lot.
The filming of “American Horror Story-Hotel” will take place in Los Angeles in July. The previous two seasons were filmed in New Orleans. The premiere episode is expected to air in October.
